  • 3 Ways to Use Generative AI in Marketing In 2024

Have you jumped on the Generative AI train yet?

I’m someone who’s obsessed with marketing so when I realized how to use AI for marketing, I got really excited.  There are so many ways generative AI can help you save time and the hassle of all those marketing tasks that can really weigh you and your team down week after week as you grow your business.

The problem is how do you choose the right tools to know that it’s actually going to save you time and integrate well with your existing workflows?

I'm going to share 3 Ways to Use Generative AI in Marketing and some tools I use to help me save time when I create content.

First, what the heck is Generative AI?

Generative AI is short for Generative Artificial Intelligence that encompasses a diverse set of outputs, including text, audio, images, computer code, and more.  It’s the comprehensive field of AI as distinct from LLMs or Language Learning Models are the text-generating category of generative AI.

How Can You Leverage Generative AI in Your Marketing?

The Steps To Create Use AI In Your Marketing Workflows

There are three ways you can use AI in your marketing, content creation, specifically the ideation phase, creating the content itself and publishing the content.

If you’re not using Generative AI in your marketing, you’re missing out.  The speed of business just got faster because the barrier to entry has virtually disappeared in marketing.  As long as you have a device and internet connection, you can be in business.  That means that every business owner or entrepreneur will need to figure out AI quickly and how to leverage it in their workflows.  Obviously that means understanding the new tools and where they fit into your business and most importantly at what juncture.  There’s a glut of new AI tools on the market and some will come and others will go.  This process will happen faster than we ever thought possible.

But the truth is content marketing isn’t going anywhere.  The basic essentials of knowing your target market, understanding your customer with empathy and reaching them by creating trust through tools like storytelling haven’t gone away. Timeless marketing principles will be here always.  It’s the tools we use to reach our customers that will reduce time while delivering even more value and will continue to evolve.  Setting yourself apart from your competition and creating that coveted blue ocean so you can make them irrelevant is more crucial given all these new tools.

Generate Crappy First Drafts, Fast

Creating content is now faster and easier than ever before. And with Generative AI it just got a lot easier.  This means over the course of a year or so we’re going to see a ton of pretty generic, and kind of terrible content.  It’s going to be more important now to publish high-quality content that resonates with your audience.

You can now prompt ChatGPT to tell you to write copy, blog outlines, lists, bio captions, generate lists of content ideas, brainstorms, and anything else.  These are a great starting point.  You are not to copy and past this into a blog and hit publish.  The blog posts, social media content, email newsletters, and product descriptions will need editing by a human.  Your brand voice matters, being compelling matters, storytelling matters.  Use tools like Canva Magic write to get started.

Same goes for Image and Video Creation.  Sure, AI-powered tools can automatically create images, graphics, and videos based on your branding guidelines and campaign objectives, saving staff time and resources. You can create things quickly but ensure they’re eye-catching and actually useful for your marketing campaigns.  You can take a tool like Opus and break down a video into 10 videos almost instantly but they have to be the compelling quotes, or bit size pieces of content that will actually resonate with your audience, otherwise you’re wasting your time.

Save Time With AI

Speaking of saving time, Chatbots and Virtual Assistants are an amazing way to leverage AI for your business.  Remember we’re not outsourcing away workflows and big chunks of your marketing, you’re taking tightening your systems to reduce time and friction.

Implement generative AI-powered chatbots and virtual assistants to provide personalized customer support and assistance. Chatbots can interact with customers in real-time, answer their questions, recommend products, and facilitate transactions, improving customer satisfaction and retention.  You can use tools like ChatFuel to implement your chatbot fast.

Campaign Optimization:

Employ generative AI algorithms to optimize marketing campaigns in real-time. AI-powered optimization tools can automatically adjust campaign parameters such as targeting, messaging, and bidding strategies to maximize ROI and achieve marketing objectives.

By integrating generative AI into your marketing processes, you can streamline workflows, enhance creativity, improve efficiency, and ultimately drive better results for your business. However, it's essential to carefully evaluate and customize AI solutions to align with your specific marketing goals and requirements.
